Jeffery Davis was born in Canada in 1981 and has lived in Portugal since 1985. He began his musical studies very early, starting quickly on the percussion. Later, he enters the Conservatory Calouste Gulbenkian, in Aveiro, under the guidance of Professor Vasco Rodrigues.

In July of 1998, he attends the Berklee College of Music’s summer course in the U.S., having the opportunity to work with vibraphonists Gary Burton, Ed Saindon, Dave Samuels and Vitor Mendoza.

In the mid 90’s, he is admitted to the School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE), in Oporto. During his stay at ESMAE, he studied with Miguel Bernat and Manuel Campos, performed several concerts with the Symphonic Orchestra of the School, attended a Master Class with percussionist Steven Schick (Multi-Percussion) and joined the Drumming Percussion Group.

In March 2002, he won the first prize at the Concours International de Jazz in Paris, winning a scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music course. In the same year he concludes his studies at ESMAE, with the highest classification – 20 out of 20.

In January 2003, he moved to the United States, where he started the Jazz Performance Vibraphone course at the Berklee College of Music, which he completes May 2006 with the status of Summa Cum Laude. He stands out as the top vibraphonist of the School. He wins numerous awards from Berklee, including the Most Active Mallet Player Award, the Gary Burton Scholarship Award and the Dean of Curriculum Award for Academic Excellence. He also receives the Outstanding Musicianship Award from the IAJE (International Association for Jazz Education).

It is in the United States that he has the opportunity to work with jazz musicians such as Hal Crook, Joe Lovano, Gary Burton, Dave Liebman, Dave Samuels, Phil Wilson, Terrence Blanchard, Michel Camilo, Steve Swallow, Bob Mintzer, Ed Saindon, Vitor Mendoza, Roswel Rudd, Alex Terrier, Brian Baker, among others.

Jeffery Davis has several cds and classic performing solo concerts all over the country and concerts for marimba / vibraphone and orchestra. Master Classes in the most prestigious national and European schools. He performs several concerts with national and international musicians. In the educational field, Jeff Davis teaches jazz vibraphone at the High School of Music and Performing Arts and Vibrfaphone at the Superior School of Music in Lisbon. He is also active as a composer, both jazz and classical.
